Possible SSFS instability

Today we looked at the data from last night, where we left the ITF in auto-relock with the SSFS; there were a number of unlocks, a few of them seemed due to a stepped ramping of the SSFS correction, which eventually saturated at +-10V. In Figure 1 there is some cleaner trend of a few days ago, in Figure 2 a single instance and in Figure 3 its spectrogram.

We investigated this issue further, and what is seems is that there could be something related to how the correction is computed, maybe in the digital noise correction, given the discrete nature of such trend? We see similar trends also in the channels related to the Digital Noise, but not on the DC power of B4 (see Figure 4).

During a single instance, we could also see a subsequent increase of some broadband noise at each step of the stepped ramp (Figure 5).

The digital noise correction  was not propagated to the DSP, the numerical noise  is always computed to monitor this issue.

At 017-03-24-04h25m11-UTC I enable the numiracal noise substraction(NNS)

017-03-24-04h25m11-UTC    info masserot     'NNS subtraction:Enable NNS [ramp duration=1,weigh of digital noise corr=1]' sent to SSFS_Ctrl

first plot show the digital noise without the NNS,

second plot with the NNS ON where one can see  the reduction of the remaining numerical noise

At 2017-03-24-04h44m03-UTC     I reset the DSP filter registers

2017-03-24-04h44m03-UTC    info masserot     'SSFS filter:B4: reset all DSP filters [filter=2]' sent to SSFS_Ctrl

third plot with NNS ON  show the increase of the digital noise correction  after 20mn

the fourth plot with NNS ON show the reduction of the digital noise after reseting the DSP filter registers
