We conducted an airflow test in the box of NI local control, to observe the effects of air currents on the local control signals.
We wanted to take data both while keeping the box's lid lifted (by about a centimetre) and also while gently blowing with a compressed air can through the holes of the bench that host the optical lever, with the box closed.
Unfortunately due to our proximity to the tower the interferometer unlocked a number of times.
We gathered data with the box's lid open during the lock acquisition between UTC 17:42 and 18:18. The unlock was caused by us attempting to gently close the lid to continue with the convection test.
Since approaching the optical lever bench to spray compressed air through the holes always unlocked the ITF, we taped a rubber hose to one of the holes and managed to spray air from a distance (pictures). We succeded in spraying airs in approximately 30 seconds bursts starting at UTC 19:26:30, for a couple of minutes.
We caused one last unlock by removing the hose and the aluminum tape when we left.
Data from this operations will be examined in the future.
