Setup of a seismic shaker onto the NEB HALL floor

Today we have prepared (and tested) a seismic shaker placed on the NE hall floor.
It will be used to validate software that should recognize the origin of a noise read from the NN array.

Attached photo: the shaker has been placed in front of the electronic racks (the first in the row, North side)

All is ON but the signal (1 V @ 28 Hz) is not sent to the amplifier (matrix set at 0)

Today, between 7:50 UTC and 9:59 UTC we have generated a seismic line at 28 Hz with the shaker on NEB floor. As shown in the attached figures, the generated line has similar intensity as the line at 29Hz generated by the remote dry pump, both inthe guralp sensor (Figure 1) and in the NN array (Figure 2). We deemed it not harmful at all for the ITF operation so we proceeded with this injection.

Today we have performed the following injections with the shaker (same location on NEB floor):

  • from 10:46 to 11:02 UTC - linear sweep from 10Hz to 100Hz (ACL_SWEEPLINE_CH amplitude 0,5 V)
  • from 11:05 to 11:15 UTC - sinewave line at 41 Hz (ACL_SINEWAVE_CH  amplitude 0.5 V)
  • from 11:32 to 11:40 UTC - colored noise between 30 and 70 Hz (but actually the injected noise in some NN sensors is well visible up to almost 200Hz) (ACL_NOISE_CH amplitude 0.1 V)

The last attached plot refers to the sinewave at 28Hz generated on August 4 (see above).

This Tuesday, september 6 between 9:40 to 13:10 UTC, we performed an injection with a set of lines. The frequency (Hz) of the line is reported in the 7th column of the table below.
