Temperature sensors in DET lab

Triggered by the fact that we noted some discrepancy between the signals of 2 temperature sensors monitoring the temperature of the DET lab,  we started some investigation.

The channels   are:

- ENV_DLAB_TE, generated by the  Naples environmental system  (sensor attached to the green connector in the picture);

- HVAC_DET_DLAB_TE, generated by the control system of the air conditioning system (sensor inside the white case in the picture) and used as error signal for the control loop;

Both sensors are placed in quite central position of the lab.

We noted a different behaviour of the sensors over the last wks (Fig2).

By slightly touching them, we noted that ENV_DLAB_TE temperature was remaining constant, and instead the T increase was occurring on another channel (ENV_SDB2_TE), see Fig3.

So, we concluded that by some mistakes, these 2 sensors were swapped.  Not clear if at level of connections or at level of  cfg files.  Rosario has been informed.

After that, it makes sense to make the comparison of the trend of the right T sensors (one is right next  to the other), one can see that they are in good agreement, as expected, and that the T is generally stable. (Fig4).

This morning we investigated the issue. We found that the two channels were swapped at the level of the Napoli box ENV-DT located in DAQ room, so we swapped them back.

Presently:

  • ENV_DLAB_TE associates to the temperature probe is located on the cable tray above EDB bench, and next to the one used by the air conditioner controller (named HVAC_DLAB_TE); see picture
  • ENV_SDB2_TE associates to the temperature probe located in proximity of  SDB2 vacuum tank (but not in real termal contact, and in a very precarious placing, that has to be improved): see picture
