MultiSAS Stepper Motors Control status
The MultiSAS stepper motors are controlled by a Trinamic-6110 stepper controller board which is the successor of the sixpack controller used for EIB-SAS.

To reach the board from remote a Moxa NPort 5130A Ethernet/Serial RS485 bridge has been integrated inside the Stepper Motor Controller Nikhef electronic. This is the current setup for providing a provisional remote control of the motors:

- The Moxa bridges now online are:
ethsib201 (Ethernet bridge 01 for SIB2)
ethsdb201 (Ethernet bridge 01 for SDB2)
ethsprb01 (Ethernet bridge 01 for SPRB)
ethsneb01 (Ethernet bridge 01 for SNEB).

- The Window machine olserverwin (accessible from thin clients using the alias "olwin" as virgorun user, and then logging as virgorun) has been set (using the Moxa dedicated application) with this virtual COM association:
COM2 -> ethsdb201
COM5 -> ethsib201
COM6 -> ethsprb01
COM7 -> ethsneb01

Then, in the olserverwin machine, the application TMCL-PC provided by Trinamics can be used to configure the controller and command the motors:
- access "trinamics" directory
- launch TMCL
- Setup -> Option -> Connection: Select the COM port corresponding to the MultiSAS you want to control
- File -> Open: open the Config_MultiSAS_Steppers.tmc config file and Download it
- TMCL -> Direct Mode: proceed in commanding the motors

With the SWEB MultiSAS electronic installation the last Moxa NPort 5130A Ethernet/Serial RS485 bridge was put online as:
ethsweb01 (Ethernet bridge 01 for SWEB).

On the Window machine olserverwin  the final virtual COM association is then:

  1. COM2 -> ethsdb201
  2. COM5 -> ethsib201
  3. COM6 -> ethsprb01
  4. COM7 -> ethsneb01
  5. COM8 -> ethsweb01

To finalize the current networking upgrades, two of the moxa bridges (ethsdb201 and ethsib201) had to be moved to the 192.168.226 subnetwork.
This implied the updated within the moxa application on the olserverwin machine. Attached the snapshot of the new setup.

The virtual COM association remained unchanged so this update is transparent respect to the motor driving from the TMCL-PC application and it is confirmed as:

COM2 -> ethsdb201
COM5 -> ethsib201
COM6 -> ethsprb01
COM7 -> ethsneb01
COM8 -> ethsweb01
